Blogging has become an impactful form of writing on the web. Several educational and governmental institutions have created blogs to go along with their individual goals. Some professors find it necessary to host a blog for their students to read in order to glean information from it. Politicians have started hosting online journals and blogs in order to get their views across to the public.
2004 Presidential candidates such as Howard Dean, John Edwards, George W. Bush, and even a hopeful early-starter in the 2008 race,
Lance Brown, have all created blogs to outline their platforms.
Since the popularization of the internet, presidential candidates have had websites dedicated to keeping people informed about themselves. However, the blog is just now becoming popular among political office hopefuls. It seems that politicians are quickly adopting a powerful technology in order to keep up with each other, and more importantly, to keep people informed about upcoming speeches, endorsements, and their all around political platforms.
Some educational programs have developed their own blogs in order to keep people up to date on the particular program. An excellent all-around educational news blog Brian's Education Blog, lets people learn educational issue tidbits from around the world. Though few in number, blogs like Brian's are important to the educational development of the web. Aside from university web-portals, textbook company websites seem to be providing the bulk of educational news on the internet. If the educational blog becomes more popular in the future, people will no longer have to read about a story straight from the horse's mouth. Instead, they can get opinions on educational issues from student and teacher bloggers. Some college professors, such as Ben McCorkle have created blogs for their specific fields of study or for their students to read.
